I too hate that we often use a single number to represent the ability of an individual, based on a standard that is not so standard among the diversity of people around us. My thesis actually talked about including more qualitative metrics in evaluation so we can get a fuller picture of a project's impact - we should probably do something similar in our school system. Anyway, glad you are working on this :-) Kudos!
You hit the nail on the head Denis with "tell the real stories". I agree, Bea. A compelling way to tell the story of what matters instead of the story of what's easy to measure will make a real difference here.
